How This Works

Every public holiday falls on a different day of the week, and that determines how much it extends your weekend. Holidays on Monday or Friday give you a free 3โ€“4 day weekend at no cost. Holidays on Thursday or Tuesday can be extended into a 4-day weekend by taking just one adjacent day off. Holidays on Wednesday require two vacation days on either side for a 5-day break.

Holidays that land on Saturday or Sunday are excluded โ€” they don't create additional time off since you're not working those days. When two holidays fall close together, we also identify โ€œbridgeโ€ opportunities where a short stretch of vacation days connects them into a single extended break.
